KAPELOU visits PARCEL+POST EXPO, the leading trade fair for the postal sector

The delivery service plays an important role in the economy. The provision of postal services is one of the most important critical infrastructure tasks, which is particularly important in an environment characterised by contingencies. All contingencies bring opportunities for postal operators, but also challenges. Pandemics and wars have changed the way we live, work and shop. That is why PARCEL+POST EXPO is the most important international industry event of the year for the postal industry.

Trade fair participants were informed about how they can effectively meet the challenges of the industry through technological innovations and strategies. The solutions presented at the event help to increase the speed of processing, automate the parcel sortation process and optimise overall productivity in postal industry warehouses. Among the solutions presented and topics of discussion are:

• autonomous delivery vehicles and robots;
• intelligent logistics systems;
• robots and artificial intelligence;
• innovations in the field of fulfillment;
• technologies for packaging, sorting and handling parcels;
• logistics management and optimisation, route planning;
• security solutions for goods;
• loading and unloading devices and much more.

PARCEL+POST EXPO combined both face-to-face events and virtual lectures, seminars and panel discussions. Sergii Palamarchuk, KAPELOU’s International Sales Manager, summarises: “At the fair we met many of our partners and suppliers: BOWE AUSTRIA, BOWE FRANCE, Modern Expo, Damon, AmbaFlex, SEW-EURODRIVE, Kyowa and others. Compared to last year, the exhibition has grown significantly, which underlines its relevance and importance for the sector’s representatives. KAPELOU has many innovative solutions for the postal industry. In the future, we will present them at PARCEL+POST EXPO together with leading innovators. For example, a sorting solution based on an industrial robot (Speedbot), our own route-based parcel sorting system for maximum sorting performance at an attractive price and systems with dynamic cells for automated pick-up and delivery of parcels around the clock (UnitHub). For each project, we take an individual approach based on the customer’s needs. The postal industry is no exception: recently we carried out a project for the largest Hungarian courier company, where the main task was to enable the transport of large parcels, including those with unusual shapes”.

The Parcel and Postal Technology International Awards 2022 were also presented at the fair. “Ukrposhta” received the nomination “Service Provider of the Year”. The company works every day despite the war-related damage to more than 900 postal facilities and is there for the Ukrainian population.

These fairs are a good opportunity to make contacts and find suppliers for the components of our automation systems. After learning about the innovations in the industry and being inspired by the solutions of leading representatives of the intralogistics market, we took home the ideas to optimise our own systems. After all, the key to the success of any project is to learn about new technologies and be inspired by the solutions of others.
