Seamless pallet movement drives FMCG warehouse logistics efficiency
Askania-Pack is a market leader in portion-packaged food products in Ukraine, operating a full-cycle production facility: from raw material sourcing to packaging of honey, dry goods, and pastes. With a modern in-house quality control lab, the company serves both HoReCa and retail customers across Ukraine and beyond.
As production volumes ramped up, the customer came to us with a clear challenge: optimize warehouse operations. The goal? To synchronize production and logistics flows, eliminate bottlenecks, and ensure stable pallet movement from the storage zone without the need for additional human resources.
How to improve warehouse efficiency?
Working closely with the Askania-Pack team, we set out to increase the efficiency of the logistic center:
- ensure continuous delivery of raw materials to production lines;
- automate the transfer of orders from storage to shipping;
- prevent pallet congestion in the cross-docking zone during peak hours.
We developed and implemented a customized automated transport system. The result? A conveyor solution capable of handling pallets with products of varying weights in high-throughput logistic conditions – without interruption.
Automated pallet movers significantly reduce orders handling time, improve warehouse efficiency, ensure faster access to storage zones and minimize bottlenecks. Where peak hours once caused traffic jams in the outbound area, the product flow is now stable, orchestrated, and free of delays. Integration with the warehouse management system allows real-time tracking of pallet movements and enhances overall order visibility, optimizing both inbound and outbound logistics.
Warehouse system highlights:
- reversible conveyor mode allows dynamic flow control without reconfiguring warehouse logistic routes;
- integrated pallet wrapping system reduces preparation time for outbound orders;
- operator safety built-in: the vertical conveyor structure is designed for real-world usage and includes a protective mesh enclosure – ensuring safe, controlled product movement from the storage zone and a secure work environment;
- minimal human intervention – operators focus on warehouse logistics processes control rather than manual products transport.
Automated equipment for warehouse logistics maximizing efficiency in the facility:
- driven roller conveyor for pallets;
- vertical pallet conveyor;
- automatic pallet wrapper;
- hydraulic lift station with roller conveyor;
- safety gates with automation;
- control module with WCS and HMI panel for real-time system visualization.
Results. The automated transport has significantly improved the day-to-day operational performance of the logistics center:
- 60 pallets/hour – continuous delivery of raw materials in reverse mode to production lines;
- 20 pallets/hour – outbound flow of finished products from the storage zone with automated wrapping;
- up to 800 kg – payload capacity;
- zero products congestion in the shipping zone – even at peak times;
- reduced manual product handling operations – optimized workforce allocation;
- improved efficiency across storage, order processing, and shipping.
Big thanks to the Askania-Pack team for their trust, openness to innovation, and shared commitment to warehouse efficiency. Automating pallet transport with conveyors means: consistent operations, improved warehousing capacity, and full control over warehouse logistics.
