SANITEX is the largest wholesale, distribution and logistics company in Lithuania and Latvia, operating in Estonia and Poland. Founded in 1992, it serves more than 35,000 customers in all Baltic countries.
With over 43,000 SKUs, SANITEX turned to KAPELOU to improve its warehousing processes.
The following tasks were defined to automate the warehouse in Tallinn:
- to implement a turnkey solution for lifting and lowering pallets from three levels of storage and pallet handling;
- to improve transportation capacity of up to 60 pallets per hour;
- to move different pallet sizes – 800×1200 mm, 1000×1200 mm, 1200×1200 mm;
- to ensure the operation of the pallets with a manual or automatic wheelbarrow (hydraulic cart).
KAPELOU’s team developed a vertical pallet elevator solution for the first task – providing pallet lifting and lowering from three levels of pallet storage and handling. This solution minimized the involvement of human labor and increased the pallet transport capacity – up to 60 per hour.
For the use of different pallet sizes, specialists from the conceptual, design and engineering departments developed a customized solution for the KAPELOUⓇ automated production conveyor system. The customized pallet roller conveyor can transport 800×1200 mm, 1000×1200 mm and 1200×1200 mm pallets simultaneously without any system reconfiguration. This avoided the additional cost of standardizing pallet packaging from the customer’s suppliers.
To make efficient use of every square centimeter of the warehouse, we built a two-level platform that not only serves as the base of automation, but also allows maintenance of equipment without unnecessary disturbances. The mash guard was installed around the perimeter of the automation system to meet safety regulations.
To control the operation of the conveyor equipment, we wrote the WCS software. It allowed us to use the system in reverse mode and carry out successful commissioning under emergency conditions for Ukraine. The software was written and configured remotely, and the team monitored the correctness of its work directly at the site.
Thanks to the automation solution from KAPELOU, the transport and handling of pallets was accelerated. The automated use of different pallet sizes has now been established, which has significantly reduced the costs of the storage processes. At the same time, productivity and efficiency of the warehouse increased and the workload of the employees decreased.
The war made adjustments, but did not hinder the implementation of a turnkey solution. Despite everything, together with the customer we achieved all the goals. Having temporarily relocated our own production to a safer region of Ukraine, we manufactured the necessary equipment parts, delivered it to Estonia, assembled on site and carried out commissioning.
